I do not think this was a deliberate ploy, but it was caused by the greedy, selfish ,fat cats taking too much money out of the economy.
Until this unfair tax system is altered and money passed back down the chain to the poorer low paid
we will just keep falling into high unemployment and more crashes to come.
References :
A deliberate ploy?

Ask yourself this. If you are loaded to the eyeballs with billions in your company, exactly what is the point in trading in this position for one where your business is half owned by the government and you have much less money in your company because of it?

Deliberate actions of the part of financiers rarely make them less rich.

You're absolutely right about one thing though. Living on credit will eventually bite you in the @rse. Which is why it's a bit hypocritical for millions of people in this country to moan about government borrowing when odds on they've all got credit cards, overdrafts and mortgages that they can't really afford. That's not to say the government is right to borrow; this country is in it up to the nostrils already and it's going to hurt absolutely everyone who pays taxes to fix it.

Getting my pocket battered because of a party I have never, and will never, voted for sticks in my throat rather badly.

And anyone who thinks it will hurt less under a different party: no chance.
References :
Just because someone is an expert does not mean that at times he/she can also be a blinkered idiot. These bankers lived in cloud cuckoo land thinking that the inevitable crash could always be avoided and when it came they were clueless. What annoys many people is the way that they are still going on as business as usual, as if they had learned nothing, and as if the recession and the impact on people was just a minor hiccup we should shut up and live with.
References :
You're being paranoid.

Capitalism is an anarchic system with each capitalist competing against the other. Booms and busts are built into the system. No capitalist wants to lose money so why would a whole economic bloc conspire to put themselves out of business?

Just read some Marx. Capital is a really good book that will explain the nature of capitalism!
References :
If it was it must have been led by the Labour, Tory, and Lib Dem parties here in England as they got caught in their plot. People know now who caused it and why it was caused. They aren't likely to forget it either being as its the taxpayers who were forced by the govts. of the world to bail them all out.
References :
Yes, it probably was. If you look at recent history these slumps go in cycles, which almost always seem to come when the rich corporations have overextended themselves, and gambled their money away.
This is the first time I can remember tax payers money being poured into banks to save them from ruin, although it has, of course, been used in the past to help failing industries.
The problem is, that having used taxpayers money to take a controlling interest in the banks, the government has failed to control them in the way you would expect nationalised industries to be controlled, so they are now able to do exactly the same again with respect to high bonus payouts, etc.
References :
I don't think so, because the super rich make their money by the interest it earns, and so they too have suffered.
I think this crash was caused by people being offered and given credit and loans and no one checked to be sure that people could repay. After when people did not or could not repay, then toxic debt built up.
If governments curb the way that banks and finance companies do business then this would not happen.
When I was young it was very difficult to get credit and bad debts only belonged to the feckless, but in the rush to sell retailers too have to share the blame for this crash.
References :
There are two economies in this country. There's the real economy that makes things. And there's the financial economy that was supposed to provide them with the capital to make things. And they-- this was subservient, and the real economy was supposed to be the master. Somewhere along the line, that got turned on its head. And the financial community became the master. And they actually started sucking money out of the real economy, 'cause you could get a better return passing complex instruments around, rather than making steel or autos or anything else. So, it's up to us to correct that imbalance. To make it so that the real economy is actually the dominant economy. And the financial economy is a servant to make them- enable them to do their job. And that's going to take re-regulation so if we enacted everything he said with the jobs bill, that's an A minus. He's trying to fight for jobs. We're going to fight with him. Our job, all of us, as Americans, is to make sure that we push the Congress and the White House to do a jobs program that's of sufficient size to fix the problem. Not just dribble at it. But to fix the problem. And that's what we're hoping to do
References :
Listen to Bill Moyers Journal Friday nights and read the transcripts of his intelligent interviews at his website.
